Scuba Diving/Snorkeling

We will have time for diving and snorkeling Saturday morning and/or Sunday. We don't have to leave Catalina until around 2p.m. Sunday, so we have some time. There is a dive shop right at Casino Point. You can rent your air, weights, and any additional gear you need there. For air and weights, you can usually get those day of. For gear rental, it's recommended to book in advance: Diving Catalina

We Chartered 2 catamarans for this adventure.

• Vadym's squad has the Do Nothin', a 36' Catamaran. It has 3 double occupancy cabins and a couch bed in the living area.
• Tyler's group has the Even Tide, a 35' Catamaran. It has 1 double occupancy cabin and 3 single sleeping berths.

We'll be out at sea, so it's a good time to practice minimalism. Not too much storage on the yachts. Here is a list of essentials to get you started:

• Soft-luggage only (the hard suitcases are hard to squeeze on a boat)
• Medications (bonine for seasickness, works much better than dramamine and doesn't leave you drowsy); can buy on Amazon
• Swimming gear - towels, suits, reef safe sunscreen, sunglasses
• Snorkels, fins, masks, booties, wetsuits, booties, dive gloves, dive hood
• Bio soap, bio hair shampoo. We will be in a marine protected area
• If you are not a good swimmer, a life jacket. There will be some on the yacht, but they're not the most comfortable
• Bedroom stuff - pillows, sheets, blanket, a sleeping bag works great too
• Warm clothes for night time. Layer up! It will get cold.
• Clothes to wear to the Catalina Wine Mixer (boat themed stuff I'm guessing)
• Portable Charger - we should have electricity on the yacht, but can only charge while running the boat. Sometimes outlets break. Better safe than phoneless.
• Sailing Shoes or sneakers with light soles to avoid dark streaks on deck
• Optional dry bag to keep your electronics dry and secure

We will do our grocery shopping the day before the trip for optimal freshness. All costs are split by the people on the yacht. Since we have 2 yachts this time, we'll split the grocery bills up per boat. We'll be anchored in Avalon for the entirety of the trip, so we might not need to cook much on the ship. We will also be going to a wine tasting Saturday, so plan the drinks accordingly as well. Please fill out your food/drink preferences on this sheet HERE.
